The important decisions about what should be learned and how to measure success are being made by politicians at all levels and by book companies and testing agencies instead of students, teachers, parents and school administrators.

One of the positive attributes of Austin is its apparent committment to “local.”

I wish the Austin school district would lead a nationwide movement to return to a former model of education where the decisions are made locally whenever possible.
